Why We're Different

AthleteRx Performance Rehab isn't your typical physical therapy clinic, and it definitely isn't a high-volume chain where you get passed from aide to aide and hooked up to machines.

We're a sports rehabilitation practice built around one goal: getting you back to full performance, not just out of pain. Every session is with a doctor of physical therapy who stays with you from your first evaluation through your return to the field, the gym, or the life you love.

That means your care is personal, focused, and built on a real plan.

When you choose AthleteRx, you're choosing a partner who treats your recovery like the comeback it deserves to be. This is sports rehab done the way serious athletes and active people have always wished it could be.

Meet the Team

Dr. Ben Volkman, sports physical therapist at AthleteRx.

DR. BEN VOLKMAN

PT, DPT, SCS, FAAOMPT, CSCS

Dr. Ben Volkman started AthleteRx Performance Rehab because of his passion for helping athletes return to sport. He is one of the most credentialed physical therapists you'll find anywhere in North Texas. As a fellowship-trained sports physical therapist in Dallas, he holds qualifications that fewer than one percent of physical therapists nationwide ever achieve. In fact, he is the only Sports Residency and Fellowship-trained PT in Dallas and one of only eight in all of Texas.

With more than a decade years of experience, Dr. Ben has worked with athletes from youth to those competing at the highest levels in the NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, and Olympics.. That same standard of care is what he brings to every patient who walks through the door, whether you're a professional competitor or a weekend warrior.

Dr. Christina Sterling, orthopedic specialist and sports physical therapist at AthleteRx.

Dr. Christina Sterling

PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS

Dr. Christina Sterling is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Specialist (OCS) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) dedicated to combining sports rehabilitation with performance training. She has extensive sports rehab experience with NFL combine prep, NY Mets minor league baseball rehab and hockey performance training and rehabilitation. She enjoys treating non-operative knee, shoulder, hip and ankle conditions with dry needling and operative conditions; specifically, ACL reconstruction rehab.

Dr. Christina is passionate about helping athletes, including female athletes, rebuild confidence, optimize movement, and return to the sport they love stronger than before.

Credentials

What the Letters Mean for You

What "Board Certified" Means for You

What do those letters after their names actually mean for you? The SCS and OCS, or Board-Certified Sports/Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, means they have proven advanced expertise in treating athletes and active individuals at the highest level and must pass a rigorous exam every 10 years.

What "Fellowship-Trained" Means for You

Fellowship training is the most advanced clinical education a physical therapist can pursue. For you, it translates into sharper diagnosis, the highest skilled manual therapy, and a faster, more confident path back to doing what you love. You can learn more about these credentials through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Our Treatment Philosophy

We call our approach the science of the comeback because it's built on performance, not just relief. Easing your pain matters, but that is only the starting point. Our job is to return you to the activities and movements that define your life, and we won't clear you until objective testing and proven criteria confirms you're truly ready. That's how we protect you from reinjury as you rebuild your confidence.

Every plan we create is sport-specific, evidence-based, and designed around your body, your goals, and the demands of your activity. To get you there, we draw on a complete toolkit of advanced methods, including dry needling, myofascial cupping, blood flow restriction training, hands-on manual therapy, and corrective exercise. Each technique is chosen with purpose, never applied as a one-size-fits-all routine.

Doctor-Level Care

At AthleteRx Performance Rehab, you work directly with your doctor of physical therapy for the full session, every time. That consistency means nothing about your progress gets lost, and your recovery never loses momentum.

Who We Help

AthleteRx is built for athletes, but you don't have to be a professional to belong here. We work with competitive and youth athletes chasing the next level, weekend warriors who refuse to slow down, and post-surgical patients who want a smarter, more structured recovery. We also help active adults who simply want their lifestyle back.

If you've ever worried that a sports rehab clinic isn't for everyday people, let us put that to rest. The same advanced methods and attention that prepare elite athletes for competition work just as well for the parent returning to the trails or the office worker recovering from surgery. Whatever your starting point, your goals matter here, and we'll build your plan around them.
