An injury does not have to sideline your season or your goals. At AthleteRx Performance Rehab, our sports physical therapists in Parker help youth, high school, collegiate, adult recreational, and weekend-warrior athletes across Plano, Allen, Lucas, Murphy, Wylie, and the surrounding Collin County communities recover fully and return to play with confidence.
We focus on more than pain relief. We rebuild strength, restore movement, and lower your risk of re-injury so you come back stronger than before. Every plan is individualized, evidence-based, and built around getting you safely back to the sport you love.

Sports physical therapy is a specialized form of rehabilitation focused on the specific demands athletes place on their bodies. A sports physical therapist evaluates how you move, how you load the joints, and how your body performs under the speed, force, and repetition your sport requires. The goal is not simply to feel better, but to perform and compete at your previous level or higher, with a lower chance of the injury returning.
This approach to physical therapy for athletes blends hands-on treatment, targeted strengthening, and sport-specific training into one clear plan. Effective sports rehabilitation restores full function, not just baseline comfort.

General physical therapy often aims to reduce pain and restore everyday function, such as walking, lifting, or returning to work. Sports PT is more targeted. It measures strength symmetry, explosive power, agility, and landing mechanics, then trains those qualities until your body can handle competition. If you want to sprint, jump, cut, or throw without hesitation, sports-focused care is built for that outcome.
We treat youth and high school athletes protecting their long-term development, collegiate competitors managing heavy training loads, and adult recreational athletes who want to stay active for years to come. We also support post-surgical patients rebuilding strength and confidence after procedures like ACL reconstruction or rotator cuff repair.
Our work does not stop at recovery. We use movement screens to catch mobility limitations or weak links in the body before they become injuries, offer return-to-sport testing to confirm true readiness, and provide recovery strategies that keep you performing. This athletic and sports recovery therapy approach helps healthy athletes train smarter and stay in the game.
Conditions we treat
Athletes rarely present with a single, simple problem. We treat the full range of sports injuries with individualized sports injury rehabilitation plans designed around your sport, your position, and your goals. Below are the areas we work with most often across Parker, Plano, Allen, Lucas, McKinney, and Frisco.
Knee injuries are among the most common reasons athletes seek sports injury physical therapy. We treat ACL and MCL tears, patellar tendinitis, runner's knee, and meniscus injuries. Our programs restore strength, stability, and confident movement so you can cut and land without fear. Learn more about our ACL & knee injury rehab.
Overhead and throwing athletes place heavy demands on the shoulder and elbow. We help athletes recover from rotator cuff and labrum injuries, tennis and golfer's elbow, and little league shoulder and little league elbow. Treatment restores mobility and control so you can throw, serve, and lift with power again.
Foot and ankle injuries can quietly limit performance for months. We treat ankle sprains, Achilles tendinitis or achilles tendon repair, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and stress fractures. Our plans rebuild stability and resilience from the ground up.
Strains in the hip, hamstring, and groin often recur when athletes return too soon. We address the root cause, rebuild strength through full ranges of motion, and progress you carefully to reduce the risk of the injury coming back.
After surgery, structured rehabilitation is essential to a strong recovery. We guide post-operative athletes through each phase of healing, and we support safe, staged return to activity following concussion so you progress only when it is appropriate. We work frequently with many local orthopedic surgeons and are very familiar with their protocols to get you back to sport.
Getting cleared to compete should be based on measurable readiness, not guesswork or the calendar. Our return-to-play process gives you a clear, objective path back to your sport.

Your first visit begins with a thorough assessment of your injury, movement patterns, strength, and sport-specific demands. This establishes your baseline and shapes your individualized plan.
We combine manual therapy with targeted corrective exercise to reduce pain, restore mobility, and address the underlying causes of your injury.
As you progress, we rebuild the strength, power, and coordination your sport demands, gradually reintroducing the movements you will face in competition.
Before clearance, we measure strength symmetry, hop tests, agility, and mental readiness. You are not cleared to return until you pass this objective testing. This standard protects you from returning too soon and re-injuring the same area.
Research supports objective return-to-play testing as a way to reduce re-injury risk. In the Delaware-Oslo ACL cohort study, researchers found that applying simple objective decision rules can reduce reinjury risk by 84% after ACL reconstruction (Grindem H, et al. British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2016).

Athletes across Collin County choose AthleteRx our Plano-area sports PT clinic because our care is personal, specialized, and built around results. You work e with a licensed doctor of physical therapy who is board-certified and/or fellowship trained rather than being handed off to technicians. Our dedicated rehab space gives you the room and equipment to train the way your sport demands, and our roots in the community keep us connected to local schools, clubs, and the athletes who count on them.
We believe our passion for helping athletes and being at the tip of the spear for knowledge in the sports rehabilitation space make the difference between simply healing and truly returning stronger.
I can't say enough good things about AthleteRx and Dr. Ben. I was looking for a PT who actually specializes in athletes—I didn't want "grandma's PT" trying to get me back to the mats after ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair surgery. Dr. Ben truly understands the demands of high-level performance. He's been instrumental in getting me back to running and Jiu-Jitsu tournaments with a plan tailored for the intensity of combat sports. If you're an athlete recovering from a major injury, this is the place to go.

I am extremely grateful for Ben and his assistants on helping me recover from an ACL+meniscus surgery and come back even stronger than I was before. 7 months ago, I found out that I had torn my ACL and lateral+medial meniscus on the same week of my black belt test. It was devastating to hear that it would take atleast a year to recover to take the test again. Fortunately, Ben was able to get me back on the mats in 4 months, be prepared for the next black belt test in 6 months, and passed it with amazing performance. He constantly pushed me past what I thought were my limits to make sure I wasn't just healed, but actually stronger. That extra push gave me the confidence I needed to get back without being scared of re-injury. If you are an athlete who is serious about recovering stronger than before, I strongly recommend Ben at AthleteRx!

I went to AthleteRx for my ACL and Meniscus rehab over winter break and it was great. Dr. Ben who I worked with, was super intentional with my treatment. He paid attention to any concerns I had and we were able to work through them. I made great progress over the past month and left feeling great!
